Stand in the middle of the splendid piazza San Marco is an experience in itself: Napoleon called it the ‘ living room of Europe”, perhaps presaging that today much of the European population is crammed into this great square!
The St. Mark’ Dom, thick as the living testimony of Venice attachments with Byzantium; the Ducal Palace, once political and judicial centre of Venice and the clock tower, built between 1496 and 1506, which are not only the square, but some of the main attractions of the whole city.
